Celebrating baby's first birthday is such a wonderful milestone and one I was honored to photograph not too long ago for this sweet couple at Color Creek in Bentonville. In this post, I'll share the delightful moments from that day, full of exploration and joy.
Recognizing a Familiar Place
When the sweet family of three arrived at our meeting spot in Coler Creek, the little girl's eyes lit up with excitement. Although she had visited the area many times from her stroller, this was her first chance to truly explore on foot. I could see the sparkle of recognition in baby girl’s eyes. She wasn’t tucked snugly into her stroller, comfortably watching the world roll by. This time, she was on her feet, ready to explore every inch of it.
Exploring on Foot
Watching her take those wobbly yet determined steps around the picturesque Bentonville trails was heartwarming. The fresh air and warmth of the sun on her face were like a new adventure. This freedom to roam, especially during such a critical period of her development, filled her parents' hearts with pure joy.
Her curiosity knew no bounds! Each little rock she picked up and every blade of grass she tugged at brought giggles and smiles from her parents.
Following her as I clicked away her carefree spirit in these moments was truly special, not only for her proud and loving parents, but also for me!
A Delightful Family to Work With
Working with this family was a joy. They radiated pride and happiness, celebrating their daughter’s first year together. Their patience and encouragement as she explored the creek area illustrated the strong bond they share.
As a family photographer based in NW Arkansas, I often work at Coler Creek and moments like these remind me why I love my work. I was honored to be part of this beautiful milestone, witnessing the love and connection within their family. Within just a few minutes I already knew that they're dedicated and commited parents and being able to document such a joyful occasion was very fulfilling.
A Little Hiccup
Like every good adventure, this session had its hiccup. While I was photographing them by the creek, a bird decided that was the perfect moment to... well, make a deposit, right on my hand! (thankfully, it spared my camera)
Fortunately, the family had packed some wipes for their daughter, and they came to my rescue. We couldn’t help but laugh at the situation. It turned into a lighthearted moment, a funny anecdote that reminded us how unpredictable family outings can be, even with small mishaps along the way!
Endless Energy and Exploration
Once the laughter faded, I turned my focus back to the little explorer, who was bursting with energy and ready to discover every corner of Coler Creek.
The nearby barn and open landscape provided endless opportunities for play. It was heartwarming to see her delight in the natural world around her.
The Aftermath of Adventure
By the end of the session, I think we were all a little tired, but our hearts were full. Chasing after a busy one-year-old is no joke! It's been a few years for me, so I'm out of practice.
But it was such a beautiful reminder of how fast they grow, how quickly they change, and how worth it is to freeze these little moments in time.
Celebrating Milestones Together
Thank you to this beautiful family for allowing me to document such an important chapter in their lives! I cannot wait to see what adventures lie ahead for their little explorer.
