Some family photo sessions are special because of the occasion. Others are special because of the people. And this one was both.

I had the pleasure of photographing a family of eight at Crystal Bridges in NW Arkansas as they celebrated a very special milestone: Mom's 70th birthday. It was a wonderful multi-generational gathering, including the birthday celebrant and her husband, their grown children, as well as their adult daughter Shelba, her two children, and her cute granddaughter.

Crystal Bridges was an ideal setting for the day. The ramps made the grounds easily

accessible for everyone, ensuring the family could move comfortably from one spot to another. Beyond the accessibility, the location is simply beautiful. As one of the signature landmarks of our area, it provided a breathtaking, seasonally appropriate backdrop that perfectly matched the importance of the occasion.

What stood out to me most, however, was the family’s warmth. They were so sweet with one another, and it was easy to see how much they truly enjoyed their time together. The genuine affection they shared made the session a joy to shoot, turning a series of portraits into a collection of real, heartfelt moments.

I’m grateful I could help preserve this celebration for them. A 70th birthday is a beautiful reason to gather, but these photographs will serve as a lasting reminder of the love and connection this family shares across four generations.
